Adriano Valerio

Adriano Valerio est diplômé de Jurisprudence à l’Université nationale de Milan, avec une thèse “Crime d’état et outrage religieux dans le cinéma italien”. Il a étudié le cinéma avec Marco Bellocchio avant de s’installer à Paris, où il a suivi un Master de Beaux-Arts à l’Ecole Internationale de Création Audiovisuelle et de Réalisation (EICAR). Dans la même école, il est encore enseignant en Réalisation et Analyse de film. Il collabore, entre autres, avec l’Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts de Beyrouth, l’Institut Marangoni de Paris et l’Institut Italien culturel (Paris). Il a participé au Talent Campus de la Berlinale et à l’académie du Festival de Locarno.

Son court-métrage 37°4S  a reçu le David de Donatello (2014) et le Prix Spécial du Nastro d’Argento (2014), ainsi que la Mention Spéciale au Festival de Cannes (2013).
Son dernier court-métrage Agosto a reçu une Mention Spéciale au Festival de Venise (2016).
Son premier long-métrage Banat a été présenté à la Semaine de la Critique et au Festival de Venise (2016) et nominé aux David de Donatello en tant que Meilleur Réalisateur Émergent.

Casablanca follows the evolution of their story and of Fouad’s frustration in a more and more self centred country as his desire to go back to morocco gets stronger.

Somewhere in Italy, Daniela has been giving shelter to Fouad, a Moroccan immigrant, for two years. To allow him to get his visa, she accepts his marriage proposal. But quickly, she realizes the feelings Fouad has for her, and she feels uncomfortable having an administrative wedding for visa purposes with someone who actually loves her.
